Ballycastle / Shirley Road Productions

In 1998 & 1999, FRANCES McELROY, founder and director of SHIRLEY ROAD PRODUCTIONS, came to BALLYCASTLE (IN COUNTY MAYO, IRELAND) for part of two summers, filming for this documentary. For years I had been an outdoor painter, and between 1994 and 2006 a summer resident in the village, with the BALLINGLEN ARTS FOUNDATION. Frances spoke to and recorded many of the villagers as well as other artists working there during those summers, and they appear as players on the stage of this story. BALLYCASTLE was released in 2004.Frances McElroy – producer/director
